Throughout his illustrious career, Tim was a war correspondent in Vietnam, created pioneering oral history radio programs, hosted ABC TV’s Backchat, and authored 18 books. His extraordinary talent was matched only by the immense affection he garnered from colleagues and the Australian public alike.
A staunch supporter of the ABC and its people, Tim was among the earliest to join ABC Alumni, following closely behind the founding directors. Always generous with his time, he lent his voice to various projects, including a clever series of spoof Backchat videos ahead of the last election, humorously titled Chatback.
ABC Alumni invited one of his closest and longest-standing colleagues, broadcaster and columnist Mike Carlton, to pay tribute to Tim ‘God’ Bowden.
