Australian media:
Boycott One Nation’s
press conferences!
One Nation has banned the ABC and The Guardian from its press conferences. In a democracy the public has a right to know what their political representatives say and do.
A party that wants to govern must face scrutiny from all media, not just the outlets it likes. This action is an attempt by One Nation to avoid scrutiny.
Join our call for Australia’s media companies to stand together and refuse to cover One Nation’s press conferences if any media outlets are denied entry.

Dear Editor
We are deeply concerned that Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has banned the ABC, The Guardian and, occasionally, other media outlets from its press conferences.
This action is a direct attack on the Australian public’s right to know and an attempt by One Nation to avoid scrutiny.
One Nation is seeking to become a party of government in the coming Victorian election and has similar ambitions for the federal government. Through a free and independent press, Australian voters must be able to assess the policies and activities of all parties and their representatives, and One Nation should not be exempt from such scrutiny.
Following President Trump’s decision to ban CNN, Politico and MSNOW from the White House press pool, the five major television networks—ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC News—suspended their participation in the presidential TV pool. They put aside their differences to come together for a greater purpose.
We call on Australia’s media companies to show the same courage and refuse to cover One Nation press conferences or other major events if the party excludes media outlets, including the ABC and the Guardian.
This issue is bigger than the interests of individual media companies. For the sake of our democracy we ask that you make clear to all politicians your support for media freedom.
Letter will be sent to AAP, Australian Community Media, Are Media (formerly Bauer Media), Daily Mail Australia, News Corp Australia, Nine TV & Publishing, SBS, Seven West Media (Southern Cross Media Group), News24 (formerly Sky News Australia), 10 (Paramount Australia), & WIN Network
