You won’t be surprised to hear from us that the ABC took home the most awards, winning in 8 categories.
Celebrating the good news ABC Managing Director, Hugh Marks, noted the public broadcaster’s “unique and important role in continuing to invest in distinctive Australian stories and the people who create them.”
Many other winners, such as Gold Logie winner, Sam Pang, and Hall of Fame inductee, Deborah Mailman, have been part of many ABC productions.
ABC Friends’ President, Cassandra Parkinson congratulated the winners and renewed her call for the ABC’s award winning content to remain free to access for all Australians.
The ABC is part of our cultural heartland. Free access represents a ‘fair go’, and, like Medicare, every Australian deserves that.
Largely due to funding cuts, the ABC now presents about 40% less Australian content than it did a decade ago.
Imagine what our ABC could do if it was fully funded.
